Organic simplistic design, these baskets are handwoven from the Totora Reed, which grows in the coastal wetlands to the high plateaus of Lake Titicaca.

Throughout history, Totora has been used in Peru, most notably for fishing vessels dating back 3,000 years. In Lake Titicaca, the Uros people live on floating islands made of Totora.

Made by a cooperative of artisans in Northern Peru, the stalks are first harvested, dried, and later woven into baskets.
